Natural alpaca fiber (or wool) is incredibly warm. Each fiber has air pockets which act as an insulator. Crescent Moon Duvets have taken this luxurious fiber, added a little sheep's wool for loft, and sewn it inside organic cotton fabric. The resulting down alternative comforter is heaven to sleep under. It's warm and light but won't overheat you. Alpaca fiber can absorb 35% of its weight in moisture whisking away night sweaties. For every square foot of comforter, there is one ounce of stuffing. This alpaca comforter is good for all seasons. For those of you who are warm blooded, we also have a lightweight alpaca comforter.

Julie McLean hand-crafts each alpaca comforter in Canada with an industrial sewing machine and a long arm quilter. Comforters always have stitching throughout to keep the filling in place. As a special, personal touch, Crescent Moon Duvets are stitched with a crescent moon 6" apart. |

Enjoy the benefits of this down alternative comforter knowing it's all natural and easy on the animals. Alpacas are sheared once a year in the spring. They are not hurt during the process, and because of the haircut, stay cooler in the summer. By the time winter rolls back around, they've grown their fiber back to keep them toasty warm. It's kind of ideal because everybody gets the warmth of alpaca.

Care
A good duvet is an investment that will last a lifetime. To protect your alpaca comforter from soil, perspiration and wear, we recommend the use of a cover at all times. Occasional airing will keep them fresh and clean. Alpaca wool loves fresh air and will re-loft when left outside for the day.
Wash your alpaca comforter as infrequently as possible. It will last longer. When you wash your comforter, it is very important to
NOT use the agitation cycle. Agitation will felt the alpaca and wool ruining the comforter.
Front load washer:
Choose the "ultra hand wash" cycle of your washer. Use cool water and a mild natural soap such as Eucalan wool wash. When your machine stops, run it again on the spin cycle to make sure most of the water is out. Hang to dry.
Top load washer:
Fill your machine with cool water and cleaner. Add the down alternative comforter, let it soak for 5 to 10 minutes, then plunge it up and down by hand. Use the spin cycle to get the water out.
